![]() Being part of The Leading Hotels of the World group, this is a very expensive hotel. Some of the food is excellent, but some is poor. The bedroom was enormous, as was the swimming pool, and the grounds are well kept. The hotel interior was stunning - beautiful antiques even in the corridors, and salons, bars, lounges galore. Word of warning eating and drinking in this hotel is not for the feint hearted, prices outstrip the great majority of five star hotels throughout the world. Pool area lovely and again well maintained. Apart from the main frontage, which appears a bit shabby the remainder of the grounds are exquisitely maintained and a credit to the grounds staff. The cleaners are very kind and helpful but they are understaffed and need to cut corners. So we had to navigate our own way around the premises.Whilst there are staff at breakfast you need to make your own coffee, look for sugar, cutlery etc The bedrooms are a good size and lovely decor but the beds are a bit of a let down.mattresses are lumpy and extremely old style. ![]() Reception barely acknowledged our arrival, on showing us around we were told the pool was over there, breakfast served down that corridor. From the moment we arrived it was apparent that this hotel lacked service and welcome. But how unfortunate that such a jewel could be let down by such mediocre service. ![]() We would recommend, to those who are happy visiting a grand hotel, and we would love to return at some point.Wonderful legacy building sitting on spectacular location. Both were fixed promptly (by the time we returned from breakfast) but arguably shouldn’t occur in a hotel of this class. We had a couple if issues during our stay (the toilet did not work one morning, and the lights another). This venue is an open courtyard when the weather permits, which was lovely.īreakfast was good with all options covered including a chef to cook eggs as required. There were wide ranging food options, from snacks and tapas, through burgers and sandwiches, to main meals and desserts. We used the all day casual dining extensively. There were people on hand to assist with the sun umbrellas and towels, as well as a bar and restaurant (open only for lunch). The pool and surrounding area was large, and very well kept. The bed was very good, and a pillow menu was available. We had a room with a sea view and terrace, and would recommend this class - the room was a good size for a couple, and the terrace was lovely, very generous in size, and had excellent sea views. Reception were knowledgeable and helpful about this. We selected the hotel in part because of its proximity to the Cami de Rhonda walking track, and this was ideal.
